Dell’s introducing a sort of makeover on its Mini 9 and 12 by adding a design “option” on its lid prior to ordering. 5 custom designs by artist Tristan Eaton are available to choose from. This however will add an additional $50 on the netbook’s price. Similar to “skinning” done by our local partner ProudSKIN, this will add some visual enhancements to your already good looking Dell netbook.
In an article at Engadget, storage addicts, here we go again.
Now we have this Samsung FlashSSD 256GB that isn’t priced yet in the market, but will hopefully be having insane sequential read and write rates, 220MB/s and 200MB/s respectively. That is absolutely nuts, but we all love it.
Holy cow! 64GB! The Kingston DataTraveler 150 flashdrive comes in both 32GB and 64GB versions. I’d want one of these babies when they arrive at CDR-King in the near future, and when the prices drop way below your pants. LOL
Pardon for the fuzzy picture (using a camera-phone), but that’s my Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop Edition package that just arrived… and it’s free! What’s included in the package are four (4) Ubuntu stickers and the installation CD (with a wonderful looking sleeve).
I hope your post office handles packages way better than mine. As I opened my package, 1 of the stickers was pretty much battered. If the sticker were a human being, it’ll file assault charges. LOL
Anyway, I have yet to test my copy as I have no more space on my 701 for installation, so that’ll have to wait. Thanks to our Linux resident guru Jngoi for the heads-up, that’s why I was able to request a copy for myself.
You could visit this link to request your own copy OR download it from here if you have a fast internet connection OR purchase your own on DVD at this link.
Netbooks owners with mini pci-e SSD storage can now rejoice! Runcore just launched a line of MLC SSDs that offers 70Mbps read and 50Mbps write speeds at a cheaper price of just $70 for 16GB, $199 for 64GB, and $389 for 128GB.
Replacement should be easy enough too. It’s just a matter of removing one or two screws that hold the module, replace the SSD, and just screw it back on.
